It's a play on the French word nouveau, meaning "new" and the phonetic spelling of the NOUFŌV founder's French name, Fauve, which means "a wild animal". She wanted the name to represent the new, better way of how we're approaching fashion and to also represent our bold, passionate, planet-centric vision of our brand.

Thank you for supporting our growing BIPOC woman-owned business! It means the world to us. Most orders should be received within 3-7 business days after processing depending on where you are located. Orders made before 12 noon EST are processed on the same day, and orders made after 12 noon EST are processed the next business day. Orders made after 12 noon on Friday will be processed on Monday (unless there's a holiday, in which case it will be processed on Tuesday).

Long answer: No, because we think that coupons/sales trigger unnecessary consumerism which goes against our mission of promoting responsible, ethical, and sustainable consumerism. Good news is our prices will never go down, unless we're selling "seconds" from our ReNOU collection (coming soon) to prevent our products from reaching the landfill. So you can buy today and not feel bad that you'll get a "better deal" later on.

Our prices will only go up with inflation and the increasing cost of labor, living, and manufacturing. Again, your purchase directly supports the alpaca that grow the fibers, the farmers that harvest the fibers, the women artisans that create your scrunchie, the team at NOUFŌV and our atelier partners, and the organizations that a portion of our sales are donated to. We are all very grateful for your support.

So again, no, we don't offer any coupons or other discounts.

Not in the sense that you're used to. We call ours Giving Weekend, which lasts from Black Friday until Giving Tuesday. We will plant an extra 10 trees and donate an extra 5% of the sale of the order to the organizations we're supporting.

Seconds are products that don’t meet our strict quality standards, but are still perfectly functional and beautiful. We’ll be releasing our ReNOU Collection in the Spring/Summer ‘23.

Yes, however we'd like to try to prevent unnecessary shipping (and the carbon footprint that goes with it) so we want you to really want the item before placing an order. Free returns and/or exchanges are accepted within 14 days of receipt of the pieces. Returned items must be unworn/unused with tags and in their original packaging. Refunds will be issued in the original form of payment or as store credit.

In the event that you receive a damaged item, please let us know within 15 days of receiving your order and we'll be happy to exchange it.

We produce most of our products in limited small batches to reduce waste and keep our collection fresh, so if it's a Limited Edition color, it won't be back in stock (unless we get a lot of requests to bring it back!). If it's part of our CORE Collection, then it should be back in stock within a few weeks. Sign up for the waitlist on the product’s page to be notified when it’s back in stock.

The only color currently a part of our CORE Collection is EVERGREEN.

First of all, don’t panic. Because we use minimal packaging with our mailers, our pieces tend to get a little flat. Not to worry though! They will naturally “fluff” up as you wear them. However, if you need them fluffy asap, a quick steam along the crease will relax the fibers a bit so that you can gently smooth out the crease with your hands. Due to the delicate nature of the alpaca fibers we DO NOT recommend ironing them unless you put a piece of cotton cloth between the iron and the scrunchie.

Piling is caused by rubbing during wear. Even though we’ve chosen Alpaca fiber for its durability and resistance to pilling compared to other natural fibers, it will eventually pill when it is well loved. To help prevent pilling, treat the scrunchies gently and avoid velcro at all costs.

There is a simple fix though if you do see some pills. Take a clean razor and gentle “shave” off the pills. Be patient and go slowly so as to not damage the other fibers. Alternatively you can use a fabric shaving device (Google “fabric shaver”) specifically for this purpose. We DO NOT recommend using scissors as you may accidentally cut a strand of yarn and that would be sad. If you have a pulled yarn in your scrunchie, gently tug at the surrounding fibers to ease that yarn back into place. After the process, your scrunchie should look as good as new!

Sure thing! For every item sold we will plant 20 trees and donate 20% of our total sales to the charities we support.

We donate at the beginning of each quarter.

So we figure out how many pieces we sold and multiply that number by 20 to determine how many trees we will be donating. Then we go to One Tree Planted and Eden Reforestation Projects to donate the funds it requires to plant that many trees.

We then determine the total sales for that quarter and calculate 20% of that number to determine the amount we will donate. We will then evenly distribute that amount between Malala Fund and She Should Run.
